MRSA Response at HCA East Florida Hospitals

A new strain of antibiotic-resistant staph, MRSA, is finding its way into public places, including schools and locker rooms. It is spread easily and much more difficult to treat than ordinary staph bacteria.

The growing prevalence of community-associated MRSA is also creating new challenges for the healthcare community. In response, HCA and the East Florida HCA hospitals kicked off an aggressive campaign in January 2007 to totally eliminate hospital-acquired MRSA in our facilities.

The campaign theme is the ABCs of MRSA, and it combines aggressive infection control protocols with a proactive education campaign for patients, visitors and staff to prevent infections from occurring and spreading.

To learn more about MRSA, explore the resources below or call our Consult-A-Nurse at 1-877-4-HCA-DOCS (877-442-2362).
